Steinwiesen Competition

Proposal for an international architectural competition for a new community and cultural centre for a small township in Germany. The concept design offers multi-purpose and flexible spaces to serve community events and performances as well as catering for multiple events at one time. A café is also provided for as a community hub. Referencing local building traditions and predominantly vernacular timber construction paves the way for a locally built structure. A pergola leads the way to the main building and diverges as a tool for way finding to the different zones. Deliberate placement of utility rooms such as the sanitary block interconnecting between rooms allows spaces to be practically separated.
