Bridal Path House

Christchurch, New Zealand

An economical, earthquake rebuild design for a family home nestled amongst the foothills of the Port Hills on a modest budget makes most of the existing site. Naturally orientated to capture sun and views, the northern end is essentially a ‘glass house’ capturing light and the double height space beyond allows the natural daylight to filter throughout the house. The generous roof overhangs provide shade as well as giving an illusion of the house disappearing into the surrounding native bush.
